Pavillion

Standing over the rising steam
                        burning flesh undisturbing my daydreams
                        while the tantalizing concert guitar
                        rings loudly in my ears
and brings me next to you
                        Your arm around me
I look up to see the clearing sky
and steal a taste of liquid gold from your lips
while we move to the music
The June breeze teases our touch
much like a dance, cheek to cheek
                        I feel weakened but privileged
                        to be in your world
                        now our world
                        in a way that transcends
                        inked mirrored names
                        on a certified thin wood
and vows that will never be forgotten
                        despite never being shared
                        in ceremony and view
                        Lost in the moment
                        of familiar words
these lyrics are me and you
                        and a distance temporarily broken
                        I smile
                        I listen
                        to the future moments
                        unspoken in our hearts
                        but carved into the stones
                        step by step
that we will take to lead us home
