Resist

Rebel against my struggling heart's content!
Resist temptation of your loving smile!
I don't forgive what you cannot repent --
in excess of a trillion missing miles.
The risk of looking up to hope again
with puzzles and pyschosis upside down
Relenting to my God who always wins
a restlesness night with blinding sight abounds
And who am I to ask for so much more
When nothing that I've given comes right back?
The barriers crash down the broken door
futility has come to me at last
Release the grip upon my broken heart
Return, my soul,  to your innocent start

Nothingness

Oh my GOD!  He exclaimed
What WAS that horrible sound?
That's the sound of my heart being dragged across the ground
He looked down
And why are my hands scratched?  Full of rocks and debris?
What happened?
An accident...she said softly
Why is there blood  all over my fingers?
She paused uneasily...started to speak...then lingered
Looking back over her shoulder with a smile too thin
she surveyed the horror scene caused by him
Her trust had been torn from her love and truth
Her happiness was knocked from her dreams and youth
Her hope had been shattered into a million deaths
and her heart --well her heart had disintegrated
into complete nothingness

Heart

The loving, patient heart
is a complicated part
of our soul
so strong yet fragile in faith
It unfolds, breaks
repairs, then repeats
its "shatter into millions of pieces" fate
Soon, you have nothing left
but dust, wind and sorrow:
only so much one heart can take
