Moonlight Visit

Golden pen in hand
                        sitting down to write
She cradles the book within her arms
                        and invites the moonlight -
                        He reaches for her...

The words do not come quickly
though her heart begins to weep
Her pain is felt too deeply
                        these questions disturb her sleep
                        He touches her...

                        Dreams begin to take control
and her fingers write the prose
                        Emptying her deepest thoughts
to a place where no one goes -
                        He watches her...

                        Twisted into sadness
                        sleep defies her desire
                        Ripping out pages of history
She casts them into the fire -
                        he cries with her...

                        Moving to the window
                        hearing voices on the breeze
                        Ovewhelmed by that moonlight
She drops to her knees -
                        He prays with her...

                        Silent in the stillness
                        her eyes glistening a tear
                        Wrapping her arms around herself
                        she feels him near...
