The Lone Wolf

When the wolves howled
                        forlorn and abandoned
                        The unforgiving wind
                        biting my conscience
tearing at my threads of reason
                        turned a bitter cold
                        against my heart

                        When the lone wolf cried
                        determined to be remembered
                        Buried in frost
                        reaching out for the moon
                        I heard your sigh
                        And pulling myself
                        from beneath the dead
                        though weakened from the chill
                        I came home
