Hidden Pieces

Puzzles like our hearts
                        have their time and place
A certainty without doubt or faith
A simple lock to an open door
one hidden key we’ve held before
                        You twice touched my hand
                        or so it then seemed
                        and puzzled as I lay
                        still I dared to dream
                        The night was warmed
                        by your stealthy silent kiss
                        some passionate tragic end
                        to love’s faulty myth
But I saw that greedy look
                        within your selfish heart
                        Your thoughtful intention was
to keep those pieces to our puzzle
                        separated and far apart
