Off The Cuff

Hurting and saddened
in the quiet of the night
Sacrifing too much to do what is right
                        too much of my heart
                        too much of our soul
                        so much of a story
                        that will never be told

                        I see you there
                        and want you to know
                        I still feel your whisper
                        wherever I go

                        Do you know my fear
                        the hesitation that binds
from telling you what I shouldn't
but what is really on my mind...

                        No answers or sounds
                        to encourage the love
                        Stars twinkling black
                        in the lonely sky above

                        and yet...

                        As the snow softly falls
                        and glistens my cheek
                        I imagine your joy
when you hear these words I speak

                        Confusion against solution
I can't need you so much
but you know deep down in your soul
                        I do miss you...

                        I still need your touch
