Cereal from boxes
slightly opened
by eager hands
wanting to do it
all by themselves
scatter across the counter
onto the floor
Toothbrushes and towels
carelessly thrown
into the sink
hide the masterpieces
made from green mint paste
dried soap bubbles
and love
Paper and crayons
grin at me impishly
from their safe place
beneath the fridge
inside of the milk carton
behind the flowers
and plants
Laundry
well over a week old
plays hide and seek
with my patience
It grows
It snarls
I close the door....
Chores finished reveal
Pristine shine
on the kitchen floor
Lemon smells
in the spotless bathroom
Crayons and paper
organized in bins
Smiling laundry
in its drawers
and me...
Missing my clutter
