A Child's Poem

Remember that time
                        When I was so small
                        You held my hand
                        So I wouldn’t fall

                        You taught me the things
                        That make life worth living
                        How to be kind,
                        Respectful and giving

                        I became strong
                        Because you showed me
                        How to take hold
                        And still remain free

                        To seek and explore
                        The ways we can grow
                        To cherish and love
                        All the people we know

                        You taught me truth
                        My tongue will not lie
                        Family is love
                        Honor is pride

                        Through difficult times
                        Your lessons learned deep
                        Paths may be rocky
                        Mountains are steep

                        Now I’m a man
                        Now I am tall
                        You still hold my hand
                        And I’ll never fall

                        You taught me so well, Dad
                        Did everything right
                        Thank you for giving me
                        The wings to take flight ~
