Linked

You promised me
you would never leave
I'm begging you please
end this permanent reprieve
The love of your life
for one brief moment
Then a backstab of the knife
becomes my broken tourniquet
Unstopping the tears
I'm not supposed to shed
Bleeding out my fears
wishing I were dead
Switching on a light
like a frightened child
Chasing memories in the night
missing your laugh, your smile
The longer you steep your thoughts
in circumstancial atrophy
The quicker you bury my heart
in endless agony
I was to be your only one
you think so little of me now
This damage can be undone
remember your whispered vow
To hold the newborn soul in your hands
straight lines marked, lives linked forever
I'm doing the best I possibly can
but for you I'll make it better
Being without you
hurts more than being apart
You promised we'd see this through
You promised to take care of mine heart
