Tall, distant night lights tease my willpower
Patience he said. I need more time to think
But my thoughts unfreeze in the dark still hours
and melt into an oasis to drink
While waiting in the desert for his thoughts
to bring him desire and make him concede
Liquid kisses frame dark despair I fought
saturating my soul with one belief:
He may pause because everyone feels weak
My eyes avert to the sly, creeping moon
Proof I won't burn in the dry, stoic heat
Hang loosely onto I will call you soon
I'll freeze my hope into ice laden stone
Until he decides to pick up the phone
